dealer tells me my abs fault codes are caused by a faulty clockspring. Is this possible?

Yes. Very possible. The way that works is the steering wheel airbag has to connect electrically to the rest of the vehicle. It is not possible to have a wiring harness connect to a part that is spinning like the air bag because it would get twisted around the steering column and could break or get damaged. So the clocksping is actually an electrical connector that can spin. It is a spiral wire contact so that when you turn the wheel it remains in contact. When this has an issue it causes an open circuit and the component stops functioning.
