I'm trying to replace my AC belt and I have it loose and ready to take off but now there's another belt blocking so it won't come off. is there a step I'm missing so I don't have to take off another belt just to get the original one off?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

I hate to say it, but yes. To remove the AC belt, which is the furthest back on the pulley, both other belts need removed.

I wish I had a better answer, but that is the reality of it. Let me know if you have other questions.

I got it off and the new one on, but just my luck now it's making more noise then before. could it be because maybe a bolt isn't tight enough? Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Hi and welcome back:

Yes, if the belt isn't tight enough, it will make a lot of noise, usually a squealing noise. In a manual, it provides deflection readings using a tension gauge. I will attach that information, but I feel it may not be helpful. However, if you go midway between pulleys, there should be about 3/4 inch up and down play. If there is more, tighten the belt.

Here is what the manual provides:

Checking Drive Belts
1. Inspect belts for cracks, fraying, wear and oil. If necessary, replace.
2. Inspect drive belt deflection or tension at a point on the belt midway between pulleys.
- Check belt tension using belt tension gauge (BT 3373-F or equivalent).
- Inspect drive belt deflection or tension when engine is cold.

See picture 1

Adjust if belt deflection exceeds the limit or if belt tension is not within specifications.

Drive belt tension can also be checked at other points on the belts.

Also, picture 2 shows belt routing and adjusters. I added it just in case you needed it.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
