A/C stops blowing cold air after a while

Drove down and back from Destin, about 7 hours each way. After about an hour, A/C gradually blows less and less cool air. Now back home, and A/C seems to work just fine going on short errands. (Long trip back from Destin yesterday. I told my kids it reminded me of my youth, 9 of us in the wood paneled station wagon, windows down, Mom and Dad smoking cigarettes, nobody in seat belts.)

When its acting up we need to check the high and know pressures also is the condenser fan working?

I have no idea if the condenser fan is working. How would I test that. Regarding checking the pressure, does that mean I need to recreate by driving this thing an hour?!?

The condenser fan is towards the front of the grill with the ac is in and working see if the fan comes on or on and off cycles?You will be able to hear it.When the ac is inop you will need to measure the high and low pressure readings on the ac system.With a ac gauge set.Ac isn't always the easiest diyer repair and diagnoses.

If the air flow coming in reduced to almost nothing after driving a long period I would suspect the evap core freezing up but if just isn't blowing cold that would need some diagnosing.

Air flow reduced to almost nothing! Maybe you hit it. So after the car rests for a while, we get normal air flow and cool.

Two things could be going on here low on ac charge causing the low suction side pressure to go lower then usual causing the ac evap core in the dash to freeze up.The second the pressure switch that controls the ac compressor to turn off and on at certain pressures is reading wrong.You would need a ac gauge set to measure pressures. Plus a scan tool that that read the pressures of the pressure switch on the screen.To compare what the gauges are reading.
