I have a blinking light on the A/C button on the dash. I have seen many videos telling me is the relay, but I went to a car mechanic and he told me I need a new compressor and condenser because he thinks the compressor is dead and since that happened the condenser might be clogged and wont work. So my repair cost is $1,600.00. I don't know if is a reasonable price but it seems too much even when I think I could be the relay like the videos I've seen say.

If I change the relay and the compressor starts working is there a risk in damaging something?

Thank you!

Good morning.

Does the compressor engage when you turn on the A/C?

Did he check pressures for the system? That would be the first thing I would have done.

How did he determine the compressor was bad?

Expensive guess here without facts to back it up.

Well, he said the car was low but now the pressure is good. The answer I got to why the compressor was bad is because he says there's a relay switch in the compressor (internal) that kicks on when the A/C is on but then it goes to a infinite impedance after thirties.

The A/C button in the dash turns on when the A/C is activated and I can hear the compressor on after thirties the compressor goes off and the A/C button starts blinking.

Wow, that is way out there and totally incorrect on the compressor.

What are the pressures?

I would get your car out of there and to someone who knows something about air conditioning.

I was thinking in changing the relay since every video on YouTube I've seen that's the problem, but I want to know that if I change that relay and the compressor starts working would something else go wrong like for example the condenser or other A/C components?

Again, is the compressor engaged with the A/C on?

I need to start somewhere and I do not guess. I do not care what YouTube says at all. This is real and your car.

Yes it engages with the A/C but only for 30 seconds and then the A/C button on the dash starts blinking and the compressor stops.

I need the pressure when the A/C is engaged.
