A/C Problem?

I replaced my A/C compressor because the clutch went out and was making noise, I vacuumed the system down then put in the Freon had readings of 40 PSI on low side and 200 PSI on high side checked temperature in car and was getting temperature of 43 degrees then heard the condenser fan come on went out and checked the readings and the low side went down to 20 PSI and the high side was fluctuating between 400. and 300 PSI and the compressor was kicking on and off.
I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Hi Carl, what was the outside temperature when this happened? Also, the condenser fan should come on as soon as the A/C is turned on. Did that happen?

The idea that the low pressure went down when the fan was on could make sense because the temperature under the hood changed. But the high pressure is certainly too high. Even at 110 degrees F, I wouldn't expect it to exceed 345 PSI.

Let me know what the outside temperature was and if any other parts were replaced.

The temperature was 83 degrees.
I replaced the compressor and expansion valve, but I didn’t replace the condenser the fan was on. I think it was the radiator fan that I heard come on.

Hi,

I don't think the condenser is the issue. Please understand this is a theory. Not being there makes it difficult.

To me, it seems the oil in the system may be causing this issue. The compressor should have 5 oz of PAG oil. I don't know what it was shipped with.

You could drain the compressor oil and install 5 oz to test, but at this point that is the only thing I can think of that would cause the pressure readings you are getting.
