A/C blowing hot air

If you are using the gauge that comes on one of those fill cans then yes, you most likely need to add most of the can.

I would suggest checking the pressures of the high and low sides because it sounds like you have a low charge but without knowing the pressures we have no idea what is going on inside the system.

If you don't have a gauge set, you can rent them from most parts stores and as long as you return the tool they are free rentals.

Please let us know if you can get the pressures and we can go from there. I attached a chart below that will help with diagnosis based on the pressures.

Thank you for helping me.
I put on a set of gauges and the high side was empty, so I went ahead and had the compressor replaced. The compressor started to run after I tripped the relay, but it was not carrying freon over to the high side and was not move the low side gages. The compressor also worked after I tripped the relay. Can you help me diagnose this and find out my next step?

Okay. Just to clarify, can you hook the gauges up with the compressor off and tell me what the low and high pressures are? Plus, the approximate outside temperature? This is called static pressures and will give us an idea if the system is properly full.

I am just not sure what you mean by the high side being empty. There is a chance we have a restriction, but we need to start with static pressures.

Then turn the compressor on by jumping the relay and tell me what the low and high side pressure is. If you just want to get a video or picture of the gauge set with the static pressure and then with the compressor on, that is fine as well.
