air conditioner making noise

I changed the alternator in my car. To be able to take the alternator out i had to remove the air conditioner compressor. Now , every time i turn on the air conditioner there is noise being made around the compressor and drive belt. The noise is only made when the air conditioner is turned on other than that everything seems fine. I want to know what is causing the noise and where should i check to fix the problem?.
