A/C bypass

Hi,

Chances are you won't be able to do it because of routing. Here is what I recommend. Remove the compressor and replace it with an A/C bypass pulley. They are very inexpensive, about the cost of a new belt. With this, you can use the old belt and not change routing.

I attached a pic of what I am referring to. There are many manufacturers that make them and most parts stores can get them. I know Dorman makes one for this vehicle. I believe the part number from Dorman is 34223. Check that out. Google search Dorman part number 34223 to confirm.

I have bypass it without getting the bypass pulley because I can’t get it to a shop to remove the Freon.

Okay, I provided a pic below that shows the belt routing for a 3.0L with and without AC. That is the way you will need to route the belt. The problem is length. I don't have that. See if a parts store near you can provide one for a non-AC vehicle. Or, you can take something like a nylon tape measure and measure around the pulleys in the pic to get an idea of the length. However, keep in mind the tensioner will be full extended, so the length may be an inch or so shorter than what you get.
