A few days ago, the A/C would intermittently cut off and only blow on high. After some research I changed out the blower motor resistor, old one had a burnt contact. Fixed that issue. Two days later it would only blow hot air. I don't know if it's a related issue or not but when the A/C started blowing hot my radio quit working. I pulled and put back the fuse for it and it came back on.
Please help it's hot and I spend a good amount of time in my truck.
Thanks

Allen,

When you removed and reinstalled the fuse, did the A/C start working again, or was it the radio?

If the A/C still isn't working, I need you to check something for me. When you turn the A/C on, the A/C compressor clutch should engage. When this happens, you will hear a click, and the center of the compressor pulley will engage and spin. See if that is happening and let me know.

Also, take a look through this link. It may be helpful.

Let me know.

The radio is what started working again. I noticed yesterday evening that while driving it would get cooler for probably 5 to 10 seconds and that only happened twice in a 10-mile drive. I'll do that test with me looking in the engine bay later today when I can get to it.

It could simply be a low-charge issue. Let me know what you find.

Take care,

I tried to add refrigerant. When I hooked it up it showed at the very bottom of the green so I tried to add some, it seemed like it wouldn't take any, the needle wouldn't come up at all then the compressor would surge, and the needle would jump to the high side of the green and then fall right back to the low side of the green.

Hi,

When you say the compressor would surge, do you mean it would kick on and off?

At this point, I really suggest checking both the low and high sides pressures using a manifold kit.

Take a look through this link. It explains what I am suggesting.

I took it by a local shop this morning. I don't have all the gauges I would have needed to check. It ended up being a leaky valve. They replaced the valve and refilled the refrigerant. It cost me $210.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi,

Thank you for the update. Was it the Schrader valve that was leaking? Also, is it working properly for you now?

Let me know.

He said it was on the high side. He didn't mention Schrader valve by name. It's working perfectly now.
