What can I do to release my hood?

Hello, I am Danny.
Just a quick question first. Did the hood latch cable break under the hood or did the handle/cable assembly break at the dashboard? If the handle broke inside I have always used a pair of vice grips to grab the cable end to open. If it broke under the hood it is way more difficult.That would involve getting the grille off to manipulate the hood latch open with a screwdriver or pliers.
