Will not start

1965 FORD FALCON

Battery new, was running. Will not start, can hear clicking, alternator. Light dims but that’s it. new plugs, wires. ignition switch new not sure how new. coil looks a bit used/ old. Alternator unsure of age. checked all bolts I can get to on wires.
Not a great mechanic but do okay. Used to, I am blind/low vision so if you can keep it simple.Thanks for any help.

The clicking can indicate a bad solenoid or starter. The easiest way to test this is going to be by measuring voltage at the starter with key in the start position.

You should have 12 volts on the single wire at the starter. If you do the starter is bad. If you do not measure voltage on the wire from the starter to solenoid at the solenoid with key in start. if it's below 12 volts measure at the other large wire of the solenoid. if it's 12 volts then the solenoid is bad. If it's not 12 volts or more, then you need to check your ground from battery to frame and from engine to frame. Or if it's grounded directly to the engine check that.

Checked as best I could, wife helped. got wrench tightened up all cables/wires that had to do with battery, several loose, alternator solenoid working okay now. thanks.

detail this question further please. wont turn over, turns over wont run etc. check battery for condition including load test first though.
