transmission will not engage after engine swap

Switch the engine from a 1998 4 wheel drive Jimmy into my truck which is listed above both vehicles had a 4.3 V6 . I did this because it had a blown engine. The engine works fine just cannot get the transmission to engage. I have checked all the fluid levels there good, transmission linkage works, properly.The parts we changed. knock sensor oil filter adapter and I believe that is it. I do not know if we need to change the PCM or what we need to change to be honest that is the question why will the thing not engage?

I forgot to mention that we used the torque converter from the Jimmy also. My buddy has been doing most of the work and he said that the one from the Sierra caused engine to stick out about an inch. I can't run codes right now. We've dropped tranny to pull the. I was going to haul them both somewhere and pick someone's brain to get this thing running.

Haven't had the chance to take it in yet. Would you happen to know the difference between the 2 TC? I know that the different splines and impeller angles etc create differebnt pressures I just don't understand why the same transmission would have two different torque converters.

V8 and V6 torque converters are different due to the power and torque outputs.

THEY ARE BOTH 4.3 V6
