Third gear light on and it is in drive and car will not move

When I crank the car and put into drive the third gear light comes on and it will not move until the light goes off. This is usually five to ten minutes. What could be wrong with it?

The first thing I would want to know is there any codes in the computer? If so what are the exact code numbers not code descriptions?
