If it's spiting gas out the top it sounds like you could have a stuck float. Those carbs aren't very reliable with the mileage your probably due to replace it with a rebuilt one

I rebuilt it last year I just need something to drive until winter and I'm putting my truck up for winter and doing a 3.5 swap I pulled the top off and my float is sitting on top of the gas in the chamber and is not stuck

The only way I have seen gas shoot out of the top of a carb is the float isn't turning off the gas flow into the bowl and bowl is overflowing. Are you sure the needle and seat are shutting off the gas flow into the carb?

I can check to make sure. This is exactly what happened I had charcoal all inside of my carb so I took the top off and cleaned everything I put it back together and it wouldn't start and gas was coming out of the top the only thing I touched was what I believe is a muttering rod it is 2 rods that stick up and has a metal peace the connects the 2 at the top I turned it a little other than that everything went in how it came out

I saw your question with the charcoal some could be keeping the needle and seat from sealing.

And if that is the case would that make it donut doesn't start even if I pore gas into the barrel this might be a stupid question but I'm kinda lurking as I go

It could be totally flooded with gas shooting out of the top of the carb. It's gotta be going down the intake into the engine all that fuel.Never ever use gasoline to put in the intake like that.Very dangerous I usually use a little carb spray to prime it to see if it runs off a prime. If it ran before this charcoal event then I would say the charcoal went somewhere it shouldn't have and caused a problem. It sounds like the fuel isn't shutting off going into the carb.you can blow into the fuel nipple going into the carb and operate the flow to see how the needle and seat are working.
