AWD driveshaft removal?

You recently gave info on a late model Equinox driveshaft removal that used a tool DT-51329 and a slide hammer. My vehicle listed above needs a subframe replacement, so the driveshaft has to come out first. The tool above cannot fit at the front or rear areas of the driveshaft. I’ve loosened the center bearing support 15mm bolts, but cannot see how the shaft can come out without opening the differential or the AWD unit at front. Can you help with info?

So, these are like any CV axle they have a C clip that holds the axle into the transmission or differential. Use a large pry bar to help "pop" the CV joint from the drive hub. Here is a generic guide to help you step by step with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car:

Thanks for the info. I think I will have to get some photos as the axle shaft process makes perfect sense, but I don’t see how it relates in the driveshaft scenario. I feel a slight bit of flex if I pry at the rear (near differential), but there doesn’t seem to be any flex at the transaxle end. I’m thinking if I remove the center bearing bolts and with a jack allow the shaft to hang at that point, it might make it possible to give enough space to pry out from the rear end. If that happens, I guess it would just be pull out from transaxle as well. There are no obvious bolts or “U” joints to remove at either end.

Yep, no U joints just use a large pry bar to "pop" the CV axle out. let me know if you need any more help with the job, we are here.
