I recently tried to touch up a few scratches on the underside of my car which has Mazda's Soul Red paint on it. Unfortunately I underestimated the amount I was a applying and as a result the metallic touch up paint I used has dried and covered over some of the intact factory clear coat surrounding the scratched areas.
Because this area is on the underside of the bumper and therefore will not be noticed at all unless somebody was to bend down and look under the car I do not mind leaving the touch up paint alone but was wondering if the touch up paint covering the intact factory clear coat will in anyway damage the clear coat underneath if I do not remove it? Additionally if I did decide to have the excess touch up removed professionally will there be any significant damage to the clear coat underneath as a result of the removal process? I also did try to wipe off the excess touch up in a panic however it only smeared the touch up over more clearcoat. As the touch up paint contained metal flakes I was wondering if this smearing could also have damaged the clear coat due to the metal flakes moving across the clearcoat?
