I recently I noticed that my left front shock was all covered with oil. The shock I assume has failed. My question is with only 7400 miles on the truck, do I have to replaced both front shocks in pairs or can I get away with just the defective one? This is under warranty, so the dealer is only going to replaced the defective one.

On top, remove the nut from the shock absorber's stud, then remove the three nuts holding the tripod, and lift that up. That is where the shock is pulled up and out.

There is a bolt to remove from the bottom, and it goes into a strap that you will want to hang onto. It is like a little wrench that you slide back in when you put the bolt back in.
