snapping noise from front end

I would suggest looking at the strut bearings. On nice cars they are made out of metal but on most cars they are just plastic and teflon. A few potholes will destroy them and then the top of the strut will pop when it moves. Also check for any internerence in the tie rod arms and the sway bar when steering lock to lock. You should also look at the spring seat absorbers to make sure they are not worn out.
