fuel door does not open

There is a Tech Service Bulletin on that issue, it has to do with the spring in the door Attached below is all of the instructions/information you need to fix it. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

The solenoid actuates but the door does not pop open. I put a piece of insulation on the side opposite the hinge and it pops open when that little bit of pressure is on the door when it is closed.

This applies to a 2011 Sorento. We have a 2014 Sorento LX.

Our 2014 does not have the tab where the rubber tube fits over. Is there a spring that is hidden in the area where the hinged part of the door is fastened to the vehicle? If so, how would it be accessed to repair/replace it?

Here are the fuel door removal diagrams and instructions so you can remove it to look at the hinge. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
