keyless entry keypad installation tips

it needs a module for the keyless to work. it could be installed provided the wiring harness is there for it.
call the dealer and ask them as they will have to activate it if it is possible.

Lost my key code for the keypad on the door .how do I reset it

This is so new I have no information on it yet, But Ford dealer can use your VIN to tell you the code...cant imagine they would charge for the info....If it's the same as 07 and newer, the number is on the VSM(vehicle security module) located in the left rear of the cab, behind the driver. Printed on a lable.

I just bought a used 2008 F150 with no owners manual or keyless entry card. Can someone tell me where it's located please. I have already checked on the back side of the fuse panel under the dash on the passenger side and also under the hood on passenger side close to firewall with no luck. It is an extended cab truck, (super cab)

The module should be somewhere behind the panel on the left side to the rear of the driver's door but as far as I know they stopped putting the code stickers on. I think you need a dealer scan tool now.

I will look, you are saying driverside on the inside of the cab? Correct ?

Yes, the picture I have is a 2 door and it shows it right behind the driver's door. Your's could be behind the rear door. Please let us know what you find.

Your vehicle comes standard with keyless entry. You can confirm this by calling your local Ford dealer and giving them your VIN.

Keyless remotes do not open doors, inside driver side door switch will not lock or unlock doors (nor will individual doors switches on any door), outside key pad will not lock or unlock doors. Alarm system will not arm or sound when door is opened.

When the problem first started the system would on a rare occasion work, but mostly would not. Now nothing.

I had a local mechanic say there are two units that work in tandem. He said one goes out and takes the other so both should be replaced at approx $600 w/labor.

That would most likely be the GEM and Central Security modules.Before condeming them, use a test light to be sure every fuse is good, under the hood and under the dash.Check fuses 115,8 under the hood and fuses 29,15 under the dash. The RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) system can be scanned for trouble codes with the proper scan tool.This may be worth the time to do. If there is a failure in either circuit, it will store a code.

I have replaced the CSM module with at least three different ones with no luck. The fobs nor the door panel lock will unlock or lock doors. Neither does the automatic door lock when driving working.

It sounds like its not getting power here are the security system wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works. Check for power at each of the fuses following this guide.

Need help with key-less entry install. I have found a lot of info online, but so many differing opinions on how to wire it from. what understand i need to use 2 30 amp relays. I haven’t been able to find anyone that has given specific instructions on what wire goes from here to there. That’s why I am hoping I can see a picture of one actually completed so that I can follow it as an example. Here are pics of the cheap key-less unit I purchased. The directions aren’t helpful.I thought I was going to need to change out the actuators for my lower locks but I just ended up needing new switches. I would like to use this unit that I already purchased if possible (without the actuators, of course).

Could you post the make and model of the lock unit you bought please, then we can look up the install instructions and the parts in the kit to determine if it's usable with the stock parts. It likely is and would possibly just need a couple relays. Most of them just use a polarity reversing signal to trigger the door latches. Thanks

Okay, do you have power locks already? Is your truck a 2 door or a 4 door?
Looking at the kit it shouldn't be that difficult to use it if you already have power locks as it also uses polarity reversal with the OEM switches doing the reversing.
To test the unit you can hook the power and ground up, then connect one of the two wire actuators to the blue and green wires from the control box. Push the button on the remote and see if it will move the actuator both directions with nothing else connected. They don't show the wiring very well and you will need to see if it does the polarity changes in the control box or if you need the 5 wire actuator connected to make it work. If it works with only the blue and green wires then you can use it, if the actuator doesn't move then you won't be able to as they are using a switch inside the 5 wire actuator to reverse the power. Please do that test and reply back either way.

Which color wires are you saying to hook up to the blue and green wires?

Hook up the red and black power wires from the kits control box to battery power, then hook the blue and green wires to one of the actuators from the kit. You need to find out if the control box switches the polarity internally to extend and retract the actuator. I watched a video on a similar kit and it needed the parts from the kit to work and didn't work with factory power locks.

It worked with the system plugged into the control box.

With just the single two wire actuator correct? The easiest way would be to change the door switches so they go to the box and use it for the control. I think the way it works though is that one press of the added trigger switch they show connected to the brown and white wires locks and then you press again to unlock. At least that is what the wiring suggests. Maybe test that as well. If that is how it works it might be possible to use the current door switches.

Okay, since it works without the 5 wire it must use reversal inside the box. That is the same method the OEM uses. To test this you could connect the new box to power, disconnect the right hand door switch and use some pins or clips to connect the blue wire that would go to the kits actuators to the pink with black stripe wire from the switch, next connect the green wire to the pink with orange stripe. With the control box connected to power you should be able to lock and unlock the doors now. Do not touch the left hand door switch, it could send power into the circuit and blow the controller. This will test if the new control box can control the door motors. If this works then we will need to figure out what you would like for the door switches.

Okay, I did that and it unlocked when I pressed the buttons on the remote, however...it blew the built in fuse on the red wire plugged into the control box. Would it make a difference if I hooked the blue and green wires to the pink/yellow and pink/light green wires?

Okay, that means the control box cannot handle the OEM actuator current draw. That will make it a lot more difficult because of the way the polarity has to reverse to make it work.
Connecting it to the other wires still gives it the same amount of current draw and the same problem. Even splitting the door locks and connecting them to separate outputs won't change the total load on the box. At this point about the only way to use the unit you have would be to install the actuators that come with it and not use the OEM door motors. Not what you wanted but about the only way that unit would work. Adding relays won't work because of the polarity reversal needed to make the locks work. The signal out of the control box flips but a relay would still only turn on and off. Sorry but I don't think that unit will work unless you mount and use the actuators that came with it.

Would I use the new actuators in conjunction with the old ones or get rid of the old ones all together?

The new ones would connect to the rods that go to the interior lock knobs. The OEM units wouldn't be used.

I ended up putting a different system in and it worked great. I was even able to get the lights hooked up to it. The only thing I can seem to get hooked up is the horn. The horn actually isn't working (before trying to install this system). Do I need to start a new thread to get help for the horn?
