My VW Routan has had a high pitch squealing noise coming from the engine ever since I got it. The noise is when I am driving not upon acceleration. I have taken it to the dealership numerous times and have had NO luck on fixing the problem. All they say is that it may be coming from the air intake but they don't know how to fix the problem. Any suggestions ?

No, it is a constant whine/whistle/ squeal. It is when I am driving at a constant speed. You don't hear it when accelerating.

Could be a whistle from the throttle body (air rushing bye when throttle is slightly open).

If no codes are stored and if they can't localize the noise (where it is coming from) it might
be difficult to pin-point what the issue is.

Driving the car with a technician sitting on the radiator grill with the hood open probably
is not a good idea... driving the car on a dynamometer might work.

Good luck.. if I run into the same thing, I'll be sure to post here!
