About a week ago I started having problems with my Nissan starting. Once started and driving I have difficulty getting up to speed and cannot go over 60 mph . In parking mode when i push the acclerator down to the floor the highest rpm is 2000. The check engine light is on. Thanks.

This vehicle should still be under warranty and you should get the dealer to have a look at it.

The MIL indicating means an error has been detected by the engine management system and requires a scan tool to retrieve the trouble code to find out what is wrong.

So with the help with your website I was able to replace my air intake boot in my car which need to be replace. so thank you for that. but my service engine soon light is still on. what can be the issue? because the underlying problems of the stuttering and hesitation and cutting off seems to be fixed but my service engine soon light still pops up. Do I need to get something to filter out the engine?

re-scan for codes if it is the same code you will need a scanner to erase that code if car is fixed.

As stated, have the car scanned. The light can be turned on by many items that you will not see, feel or hear but is still causing a problem. For instance, you repaired the air intake boot. If that was open to outside air it may have drawn in dirt that contaminated a sensor causing the light. Or it could be something entirely different like a bad gas cap, or a broken wire. The code(s) at least give you some idea of where to look. But do not fall into the trap that the code actually points to a bad part, it is only what the computer interprets as a problem.

I have a Nissan Sentra 2006. Yesterday, the 'Service engine soon' started appearing and this morning, I am unable to accelerate the car beyond 15 rpm. The car moves very slowly at 5mph. The air filter looks clean. Please let me know if you need additional details or any manual checks that I can make before handing it over to the mechanic. Thanks!

Here is an explanation of the trouble code.

DTC P2101 ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL FUNCTION
DESCRIPTION
Electric throttle control actuator consists of throttle control motor, throttle position sensor, etc.

The throttle control motor is operated by the ECM and it opens and closes the throttle valve.

The current opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor and it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle control motor to make the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to driving condition.

ON BOARD DIAGNOSIS LOGIC
This self-diagnosis has the one trip detection logic.

CONDITION

Electric throttle control function does not operate performance

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Harness or connectors (Throttle control motor circuit is open or shorted)
• Electric throttle control actuator

FAIL-SAFE MODE
When the malfunction is detected, ECM enters fail-safe mode and the MIL lights up.

Engine operating condition in fail-safe mode ECM stops the electric throttle control actuator control, throttle valve is maintained at a fixed opening (approx. 5 degrees) by the return spring.

Thank you. My mechanic says the problem is with the air-control valve and has to be replaced. I wanted to know how much should I get worried about this mal-function, as I bought this used car a week back. I have an option to return the car. Please let me know.

The code is not for the air control valve. Normally such problem should be minor and it could be some loose wiring or a bad throttle control motor and some tweaking or replacement of the parts concerned should get the car going in good order.

however it is a safety concern as you do not know when the car is going to loose power abruptly so it should be resolved as soon as possible.

i m trying to find out why or some possibilities of why my check engine light came on my 2004 nissan sentra. it has 99,500 miles on it. and the end of the month i have to get a safety inspection. i had a chevy blazer 10 years ago and had the same problem and found out it was the o2 sensor. which i dont think was much. if my nissan sentra is still running even with the check engine light on what does it sound like is the problem. i know in april im do to replace my spark plugs and do a transmission flush. and do you know where i can take it to get the check engine light checked that wont cost much.

Hello, my car got overheated and the car wouldnt start. After diagosis engine head had a crack and water and oil was mixed up. Since i got a used engine which has done 24000 miles at the same price to fix the head gasket/head, the mechanic replaced the engine. I drove it for couple of miles and the service engine soon light came up. Also the O/D light blinks when i start the car and turns off while driving. The car stalls to exceed 40mph. The mechanic checked and said the car is good and wanted me to drive for a few miles since the engine was replaced. the computer didnt show any error codes. what is the issue here?

i think the main issue is the mechanic doesnt want to stand behind his work. driving it for a while isnt going to fix anything. if you go to autozone and get the computer scanned(they do it for free) give us the code numbers and we can go from there

i checked with autozone and they said that the computer isnt shoing up any errror. they suspect some loose wiring and hence no error codes. Moreover they said that the first thing would be to change the spark plugs and then check if the pickup is good. Pls advise .

that diagnosis i can tell came from the guy from autozone. have we tried having the previous mechanic look at it again? no communication is probably from a blown fuse. give the guy another shot and get back to us

Nissan checked and gave me a report tht the throttle actuator needs to be replaced. i asked them if this is fixed then will my car run good and no SES. They said thts wat the comouter shows to fix NOW. I took to my mechanic and i told my him about this. He showed me the new throttle actuator tht he replaced new when he put the engine. He showed me the old one tht was in his junk along with my old engine. He believes tht the computer chip needs to be re coded or something. Since he has checked the pressure in the fuel pump, the transmission is good and others as i mentioned.Nissan is asking me 400 to replace the throttle which is already new. They said if i got it fixed from my mechanic they would charge me again 99 bucks to re-program it. Pls advise.

Yes, its something at the right hand top corner of the engine. The report calls it throttle actuator to be replaced in the first page of the report. also there are the codes tht Nissan gave a copy to me and said tht replacing this Throttle woulf eliminate these codes. Thing is i already have a new one in the car. So would a re-programming the chip get the SES to go off?

the codes you have will give bad hesitation. i would be more inclined to take the dealers advice, since for one they work on these every day and they will stand behind their diagnosis as where your current mechanic wont.

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE. Starting at around 70k miles My check engine light came on. A little while later my car would not start.

I brought it to the shop and I was told it was Code P0010 which is a generic code. They replaced my CamShaft Sensor. After getting this replaced my car seemed to be ok. About a week later the light came back on and my car agin wouldnt start. Same sympotoms... code P0010. This time I had my Crank sensor replaced.

A week later my check engine light came on and i was leaking antifreeze. I had my Intake Manifold repaired. (this one is a little suspicious.) I am not sure if the guy even did the work on it. Allegedly this was repaired near my oil pan on the bottom of the car..(does this sound right?) I not sure if this is where they intake is. But after that my antifreeze stopped leaking.

About two weeks later my check engine light came on yet again. I am now at 80K miles.
Recently I am having trouble starting my car. I have to constintly tap the gas, and the car has real rough idle.. Almost like a lawn mower sound/feel when starting.

I have brought it to a few shops and they said they could check it out but it may not be worth the time or money because they dont know what it could be and the everything associated with the code has been replaced.

*On a side note.. i filled up the container that holds the excess antifreeze, and a week later it was empty. Could this have something to do with my problem?

Any help would be appreciated.. this is very stressful.

Thank you for the donation

They're fishing and throwing different hooks and bait on it and dunno whether its red salmon or rainbow trout they trying to catch. Go somewhere else

No.1 I've been dealing with Datsun before it became Nissan never heard or seen an intake manifold that low near the oil pan

**On a side note.. i filled up the container that holds the excess antifreeze, and a week later it was empty. Could this have something to do with my problem? **

You're losing coolant somewhere get the cooling system block and pressure tested, maybe the reason it refuses to start is coolant and fuel is mixing and its not combustible due to a headgasket leak or cracked head or block

We received a code for the O2 sensor. We purchased a new sensor and the check engine light is still on. Is there something else that could make this light come on?

You need to re-set the ECU. The OBD-II scanner that you use to get the code initially should be able to reset the computer.

I recently purchased a 2002 Nissan SER SPEC V. The car only has about 60,000 miles on the clock.
I am getting the dreaded P0300 Engine code Multiple Cylinder Misfire which is illuminating my check engine light.
I have recently replaced the plugs, air filter and the CAM Sensor which certainly improved the idle.
The car appears to be running very rich as fuel mileage is very poor on the highway.
I know these cars have a history with butterfly screws, however is there anything else I can check before I remove the valve cover?

Clean the mass air flow meter and check the coolant temp sensor. If you have a digital multi meter all you need to do it unplug it and ohm it, if you do this when the car is cold then you can just give me the reading and the air temp at the time.

My engine light blinks constantly and when it does everything on my dashboard drops. The fuel gauge drops to E, the RPM meter drops to zero, the thermometer drops ect. Then every so often when I drive and rev the car too hard the car starts to jitter as if about to cut out. I am concerned that it may be a transmission issue or the result of the engine light. I have check with an ODB reader and have gotten a total of 12 codes and not sure where to start or what the problem even is.
