I checked the Carfax report on a potential buy and it states: Failed Emission Test

I'm fairly knowledgeable but would like a recommendation on what to do next or what does this exactly mean for the feasibility of buying the car. Thank You.

There are may things that can cause high emissions, from worn spark plugs, vacuum leaks faulty EGR valve to burnt valves, to may options to second guess, it will have to be diagnosed first.
