While the car is in movement A/C works fine in all weatheer conditions. But when stopped in traffic AC stops working and will turn back on when car is running for a period of 15+mins in expressway. Or if stop in a parking and AC is on, when you start moving it stops working. If left park in the sun for long period, it would start but if you suddenly need to make a stop because of a stop sign or light, it stops, you would have to keep moving so it will keep working. Check the pressures, all ok, no gas needed. Have watered the condenser to cool off, no effect. Fans are working properly. When AC is working, it will literly freeze your brain. On rainy days, works fine. On cloudy days, it will work fine most of the time. Might it be a sensor? Driving me nuts. / Donation will be made if answer is helpful. / got ripped of before by other website, saw this one surfing today, so I am just being cautious. / Thanks in advance.

Is the compressor remaining engaged when this happens? What are the high and low pressures at that moment?

No, when the AC is not operating, the compressor is not engaged. When it starts to work, it engages, I can hear (windows are open)when it does and inmediate feel the cold air coming out. Pressure low 35 to 40 / high 150 to 200. Thanks for fast response.

It sounds like you have an electrical issue. You're just going to have to do some electrical testing during the period that it's not working. Start out checking for power right at the compressor to determine if it's a weak clutch or excessive air gap on the compressor.

The care did at one moment get hot and the unit powered off because of the fans failed and had to replace them. Correct me, the compressor let's gas out to proctect the engine, right? I did take it to place more gas, might it have been the tech guy didn't make a correct procedure in extracting all the air and gas before placing new gas on it? The light in the nobe blinks before i press it again and accelerate the car, then it kicks in and starts working.

the compressor vents freon when the high side exceeds 400 lbs.
if the light is blinking, there is a fault in the system and needs to be checked. a shop with a scan tool can look at the fault code for the ac and use that info in tracking down the failure.

Hi there,

The first thing to do is get the system pressures tested as you may have a refrigerant leak. Start here.

Just charged the AC and hadn't used the AC last year. We bought the car pre owned, and decided to have it fixed AC works on all settings just wondering why out of nowhere hot air blows out? Especially when at a stop or sitting in the car.

What exactly did you do with the A/c and do you know how much refrigerant is in the system, there should be a specific amount which is added by weight.

My husband used the AC pro bottle that Auto zone highly recommended I was told by my dad to use a charge kit that had oil to lube everything and the man at Autozone told him the AC pro kits had oil to lube the system but what's funny is, I went back to read it and just found it stopped leaks is this product recommended if the cars AC hadn't been turned on? Maybe I misread the can or maybe the associate made an assumption there is oil inside the product but I read no such thing on the can :-/

The A/C system must be charged with the correct weight of refrigerant, the pressure gauges used will help with determining faults with the system, just adding refrigerant is a waste of time and money, these shops will sell you what you really cant use, and I feel that you have found this out the hard way, here in Aust, the sale of refrigerant over the counter is banned and you need a licence to obtain this, go get the system checked by a qualified A/C tech.

Hi there.

have the A/C pressures checked there may be a problem or it is getting low on refrigerant and the low pressure switch is kicking in shutting down the system.

You need to get the system pressures checked, if there is no refrigerant again, you will have a leak, did they use leak detector dye and a black light? they may have to use a gas sniffer to test down the ducting as if you have a leak in the evaporator you will not see dye leaking.

It is critical for the system to operated that the correct weight of refrigerant is added to much or to little will cause the system to shut down, pressure readings are the best way to check for initial problems, you must check this first.

lay a hose on roof and let the water run down the windshield.on the side the water on for 15 minutes unless u see water.if it was the heater u would see coolant not water.u most likely have a water leak.coming from a opening in a firewall gromet or a split body seam.

Fan in car for air conditioner not working Is it a fuse or relay problem

We don't have the lancer in our books. My suggestion is check the fuse but unless you can see it really good, I would use an ohm meter. Then check the relay by swapping it with another like one. If it still doesn't work then put 12 volts to the fan plug - so one is positive and one is ground and see if your fan turns......if it does't the fan motor is bad.
