Code P0017

I have the same code and have bought a new sensor to try before taking car into the shop. The code P0017 as Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor 'B' which sensor on your picture is "B".

Hello, I am Danny.

I have attached a picture of the Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 1 sensor "B' (exhaust). Location #15 circled in red. Usually the sensor(s) go bad from getting gummed up with dirty oil. Hope this helps and feel free to ask questions if needed. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

The correlation does not mean that the sensor is bad, the control module is telling you that the timing expected value that is programmed into it is off. Most of the cases I have diagnosed with this stem from excessive engine sludge due to lack of maintenance or low oil level. Extreme cases would be stretched timing chain or faulty cam phasers. Just giving you some information before you spend money on sensors.

I replaced the sensor, $30.00 and a couple hours on a Saturday, no real loss, but found the top passenger torsion bar was sheared so this allowed me to replace this as well. Now I am looking at next steps.
