Emissions system warning light has come on this morning. What does this tend to mean and will it be a easily rectified problem?

It is the same thing as if the check engine light came on. Your vehicle has a 4 year 50,000 mile warranty depending on the delivery date, so you should take it in to the dealer for some warranty repairs if your still under the warranty period.
