Want to replaced alternator belt and a/c belt on a VW 2.5 L engine. Can I remove and replaced from above or do I have to remove passenger wheel and apron? Can I use a finishing nail instead of locking pin to hold tensioner in place?
I have Alldata and instructions say "before removing the ribbed belt, mark the running direction with a pen", "risked of destroying due to reverse running direction of used belt", "when installing belt note the direction of rotation of belt".
Does that mean belt rotating clock wise or counter cw? As long as new belt is seating properly on pulley why do I need to mark direction of rotation?
