If the R is blinking, there should be a problem there. What scan tool did you use to check codes?

Under normal circumstances the R indicator light should not be blinking even if a fault had been detected. I believe the Park and Neutral Position switch for the Reverse circuit has a loose connection somewhere or the PCM is the one causing it.

Check the PNP switch wire harness connector for a loose or contaminated connections forst.

Is possible for the trans to be bad but your vehicle is too new to be having problems. More likely to be control problems.
I would suggest testing the wirings for continuity in circuit and also the PNP switch and PCM.

When gear shift is in N and gears are engaged, either the gear shift cable is out of adjustment or the transmission has internal faults.
