2009 Mitsubishi Galant having trouble starting

went to autozone about a week ago i got a new battery and they tested the alternator everthings fine there. i never had my fuel filter changed you think that could be it also from time to time the car turnsoff at a stop after researching i found it could be the fuel pump/filter but its not that easy just to change the filter any suggestions

No this will only stop the car from starting, it will not cause the car to stall. If it is stalling at lights check the idle control motor, this if faulty can cause the engine to stall as it maintains the idle speed.

A faulty starter will cause slow cranking speed it is referred to as polling, this is a partial internal short circuit in the starter windings causing the starter to stall under load.

they mechanic mentioned it could be the crank shaft sensor sinmce the car stops at stops from time to time what do you think

We seem to be moving away from the original question, I would be more inclined to check the IAC as crank angle sensor will not just cause the engine to stall at idle conditions.

my car didnt struggle when i took it but when i picked it up it did he checked it out says sounds like fuel pump that enough gas isnt going thru to start it up he ran it tru the machine but no light were on so no diagnosis he gonna test the fuel pump today if its not that i think my throttle body that needs to be cleaned i got the 2009 galant repair manual and that could be one of the cause of a slow start

The engine should crank over on the key briskly, I am concerned that this is not the case, if the starter is polling and the crank speed is slow, this will cause hard start and the drain on the starter will rob voltage from the ignition all these are a factor, they must ensure that the starter is cranking briskly, it should not for a better word lope over each compression.

ok i will ask about the starter when i take it thankyou. how do they test a fuel pump? and how do they test a starter?

The starter will be removed and it can be placed on a test bench at driven under load, and a currant dray reading can be taken, or it can be dismantled and inspected on the bench. Fuel pumps are not repairable, if flow and pressure readings are down from specs it will be discarded.
