Recently I took my car in for its annual service. My mechanic pointed out a cover under the engine was missing. Presumably one of the mechanics who did repairs sometime in the past forgot to reattach it. The mechanic suggest I should get it back from him or buy a new one asap.

I am wondering if it could trigger any problems or damage parts. To be honest, my car isn't in good shape having a recurring engine problem since last repair in September 2013. I drive on country roads pretty much everyday so am seriously worried that road debris or dirt getting in might be causing a problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
