I recently had new brakes and rotors installed on my vehicle. A few days after, a creaking sound developed in the rear end. The garage, one different from the one that installed the brakes and rotors, that I took it to for the creak told me the pads were installed incorrectly. According to the second shop, the inboard pads were placed in the outboard location and vice versa on both rear wheels, so I would like to know if that is possible? One garage stas yes, the other, no.

On some cars they are interchangeable and some cars they are not. Usually it's just for the positioning of the warning sensors. In some situations the pads are completely different. Ask them if they will guarantee this will stop the noise. If they do, then let them do it and bring the bill back to the shop that did them originally.
