I have a leak in my oil pan?

I just received an oil change recently and was told I have a leak in my oil pan. I was told I can purchase a sealant until I find a mechanic. I checked some auto stores and was told the sealant was an epoxy that has to be mixed and the oil drained before applying the mixture. Wanted to know is there another sealant I can purchase and how much am I looking for instructions to fix it?

Hello,

It sounds like you have a leaking oil pan gasket. Best course of action would be to replace the gasket with a new one.
As if you were to apply any type of epoxy you will have to make sure the surface is clean and dry. But if you have a leak you won't be able to make it dry as oil will leak before the epoxy can cure and the leak will not be fixed.

In order to replace the oil pan gasket you will first have to drain the oil. It will be best to do an oil change while you are at it. This job can be done using simple hand tools.
You will need a torque wrench in order to torque the oil pan bolts correctly.
