what would it take to achieve smooth ride

i have a cadillac cts 2009 with sports suspension. they are rough and unforgiving on bumps is there a way to change them to make it a smooth comfortable ride and what parts would be involved to achieve that.

Softer tires could help. Softer shocks and struts could help. Softer springs could help.

have the air ride checked.the ride becomes rough when its not working.
