30 minutes into my evening commute, driving about 60 mph, I attempted to rapidly accelerate to pass a car. The car sputtered slightly, MIL flashed a couple of times and went out. Car then continued to function as usual.
15 minutes later, same circumstances, same results...except MIL remained on.
Car ran fine otherwise, idled fine when at stop light, etc.
Possible problems?

Have it scanned for codes. Could be low fuel pressure caused by failing fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. Could be a bad oxygen sensor or maf/map sensor. Codes will tell us where to look. Parts stores and many smaller shops scan for free.

If you have the FSI engine, the camshafts wear out on them. VW recently extended the warranty of their camshafts.

Typically, you'll notice a constant lack of power. If you vehicle is performing fine, you most likely have an ignition coil issue. Regardless, get it checked out ASAP.
