Hi

I was driving in heavy rain couple of days before, haven't touched the car yesterday, today when I took the car it looks like brakes are jammed, the car doesn't move, after a bit more of gas the car moved and tried applying brakes which was causing a friction noise, I tried it couple of times and the noise seems disappeared. This is my first car had it only for a month and facing the problem for the first time. Can you please advice if this is common and what is causing the problem?. Do I need to take my car to a garage?.

Thanks

You have all the clues there. Water and sitting for a while. There's metal filings in brake linings to help dissipate heat, and those likely rusted to the brake rotors. With a little effort, you got them broken free, then simply using the brakes will scrub that rust buildup off, then the noise will be gone. To avoid this from happening again, drive far enough after getting out of the water to get the brakes warmed up so the water will dry off.
