My wife was on the freeway and had a Check VSC system show on the screen and also had a check engine light and a traction light at the same time. She pulled off the freeway and called me. After walking through it I had her drive on home (10 miles) After she arrived I scanned it with my little cheap tester and pulled up a P0015 which says a cam sensor or retarded timing. I am reading up on the traction system and see that it could be from a wheel sensor to an ABS actuator. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance for your time.

Hello,

This sounds like you have two problems first one of the wheel speed sensors is going out which will cause the traction and abs lights to come on. Here is a video to help show you how to do that.

https://youtu.be/rTtAnsOlZU4

for the P0015 I would start by checking the oil level and if dirty change it. This causes the camshaft actuator not to work right triggering the code.

This guide will walk you through the change.

Please run down these guides and report back. Cheers

Thanks for this post I found I had a bad front bearing hub caused the sensor to go out. Cost me 143.00 for the hub all fixed! I love this site.

0015 means a cam/crank sensor are out of sync with each other. a pro will have to fix this as well as read the codes for abs as it could be more than what you think. when abs problem develops it knocks out trac control

I had a check engine light on and used my code reader to read the code and reset the light. Sometime during that process, the ABS and Traction Control lights came on. My reader will not clear ABS lights so I disconnected the battery. That shut the lights off and that worked for a short while, but then the lights when back on after a few blocks of driving. I know the typical causes for these lights to go on, but it seems unlikely that a mechanical failure would coincide so closely to my activities with resetting the check engine light. Thoughts as to the cause?

VSC, Track and Engine Check lights are "ON"
DTC P0500 says "VSC speed sensor A " is the fault.
Where is it located? Can problem be further isolated?
Part number?

Hi Len

Ok,

On the 2.4L engine you have...

Vehicle Speed Sensor (Combination Meter) - Located on the Transaxle near rear of engine.

And a

Turbine Speed Sensor - Located near left rear of engine.

Now on a 3.0L or 3.3L you have a.....

Turbine Speed Sensor - Located near left rear of engine.

As far as the Part Number and accurate pricing you can call you local parts store with Make Model Sun-Model and Engine Size in Liters.
