my cars was sitting for awhile d the battery died and I changed and now the gas petal dosent work does the need to reet or what could be the problem

The throttle could have gotten stuck when the engine was not started for prolonged periods.
Rermove the air cleaner hose to theottle body and manually push the throttle open. Restart engine and retest.
