saturn aura 2008 dies at stops

Our Saturn started dieing at stops last night. It would take a couple of turn overs to start again. The last time it died, I took out the keys without starting it over and noticed it was still running. I started it again, then turned it off, with the keys and then it stopped running. What could it possibly be?

Seems to be overheating and not showing on dash. coolant is fine.

So the temp gauge is inop?Also you need to have it scanned for codes guessing gets expensive real quick.
