I am replacing my serpentine belt and I have the one that the auto part store said I need but it seems like it its too big...it is on everything the way it is supposed to be (according to the diagram I found online) and it is still loose...can someone help?

Compare it to the old belt to see if it is the same length,

Nope never mind...well the diagram was right but every time I start the car the belt comes off at the tensioner...what could that be...

tensioner or a pulley locked up

After I get the belt on I turn it by the crankshaft manually and it does fine

I replaced my serpentine belt on my milan and now every time I start the car it pops off...i had my wife start it so I could watch and see where it was popping off at and it is coming off at the tensioner...

check all pulleys for locking up. the belt comes off for a reason. the tensioner may be the issue if it is not aligned with the belt from wear

If its the tensioner what can I do to fix it

replace it.. the only repair for this piece
