Check engine light came on..now when I start my gears arent always there.so I turn the car off and it re sets itself and works fine after that??

This sounds likes like the TIPM is going out which is common but to be sure lets run the doces to confirm the issue here is a guide to get started.

If a code for the TIPM codes up here are diagrams and instructions to help you change it out. This is a plug and play part it does not need programming because it self initializes.

Thank you for this post I had this problem and had to get a new TIPM for $340.00 all fixed! I love this site.
