Cigarette lighter keeps blowing fuses

The in-dash lighter/power socket worked perfectly since new, but suddenly stopped working. I checked the fuse which was blown, and replaced it. As soon as I plugged in my phone charger, it blew the fuse immediately again. I checked the charger and it works properly in the center console power outlet. What could cause this to suddenly happen? All other electrical functions work normally. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Something inside the socket could have gone out of position resulting in the shorting when the charger is plugged in. I would replace the socket here is how in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thanks for the diagrams they helped me fix my problem. when I looked down into the socket you can see the rust which might be the problem anyway fixed now.
