Code P1289 after replacing the valve cover gaskets

Hi,

I changed the valve cover gaskets on my car listed above X SUV/Crossover due to oil leaks onto my exhaust. Upon completion I started the vehicle and I now get a P1289 that I never had before. I'm wondering if I may have ,missed plugging a wire back in, but I cannot find a diagram of where the sensor is.

The car starts and runs, but it's rough due to the code.

How can I find that sensor to ensure it's plugged in?

You usually get that code if your vehicle overheats. If the fault code came on the minute you started up your vehicle then I would recommend you double check your work and verify that you did not pinch a wire when you installed the valve cover back on. The sensor is located below the intake manifold so there is a good chance you may have pinched the harness?

In the diagrams down below I have included a diagram with the Engine Temperature/Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor location for you. Please get back to us with what you find out and, if needed, we can go from there with a troubleshooting guide for Direct Trouble Code[DTC] P1289.

Thank you JIS001 and SCGranTurismo, those were helpful. I'm going to check it out as soon as I can. Weird thing, I cleared the reading using my "Torque" app and everything works fine, the car drives and operates as normal, except that now I have no Temperature gauge, it stays on C. I haven't driven it much, but other than that, everything seems normal. I'll let y'all know what I find once I can check your diagrams.

Fixed!! I found the unplugged wire once I started looking on the correct side of the engine!

Code clear and not resetting, temp guage working.
