my battery died in my car and i was going to pop the hood and jump start it but the hood won't pop. is there another way to get it open?

all you can do is play with the latch until it opens. Does it "pop" up at all? if not i normally have luck pressing down or pulling up on the hood while another person pulls the latch. if it is popping up use a screw driver to push the spring loaded hook to the side under the hood and this should release it.
