Broken rear wheel studs replacement

Unfortunately you do need to remove the hub from the vehicle in order to get it out. I attached the process for replacing a stud and as you can see they are doing it in a bench vice. It looks like they have the front hub pictured but the rear is the same process.

Thank you for the advice. I have a few more questions. What size socket do I need to remove the half-shaft nut? Is it okay to reuse the nut? Do you have any recommendations on a hub puller? I have several three jaw pullers. I didn't know if one of that type would work.

The half shaft nut cannot be reused. I do not remember the size. I think it was a 27mm but don't hold me to it.

I would suggest getting the replacement nut and then you can size it prior to doing the job. Clearly this is a large socket and will not be used that often so I would not want to buy a set that may include it. I would get just the one that fits. In fact you can take the replacement nut to the store and test it on the socket to ensure it fits.

As for the pullers, you can use any three jaw puller, you just need to use an attachment or get the attachment shown in the picture that can hook under the lug nut. Also, if you have an air hammer with a dull point tip you can just hit it a couple times with an air hammer and it will come right out because you can put the tip in the dimple on the end of the axle shaft. Just don't use a hammer and hit it or you will damage it.
