It has been my understanding that the AC compressor should cycle when there is a call for cooling (AC is on), and when the defrost is on. I have noted that my compressor cycles when the heat is on also. I have checked to make sure that there is no snowflake visible on the control panel and that the setting is not to AC or defrost. Understand that I am not talking about a stuck relay or frozen clutch, the compressor and the fans cycle as if there is a call for cooling. Is this normal for this vehicle? ie humidity control or something exotic? Is there a technical bulletin regarding this phenomenon?

That doesn't answer my question. Why is the compressor running at all when the unit is on heat, no defrost, no A/C?
