2007 S80 will not crank or start, battery in remote is good as well as car battery. No immobilizer error is displayed.
Car battery was defective & would not crank engine when bypassing start relay.

If its not a security issue-could be one of the following-starter motor, starter relay, transmission range switch and ignition switch-assuming the battery condition and connections are good

There is no security related message displayed, the starter will crank the engine if the start relay contact is jumpered. The start relay coil operates the realy contacts & the relay contacts are good. The SCU recognizes the smartkey, allows accessory operations. But will not crank engine, or turm on fuel pump, injectors & spark I assume.
Battery is in good condition.
I have another S80 2009 & the operation of the CEM relays sound the same except on the 2007 there is no click of a relay when start button is pushed on SCU.
This car was jumped multiple times because of a defective battery, would cause damage to the CEM or ECM ?
Thanks

A dead battery will caused the ECM to lose programmed memories-it probably has to relearn itself-Check if you're getting spark and fuel

You were right about a dead battery causing a problem with the ECM. I did check for spark, there was none. This auto had a dead battery when I purchased it, the previous owner would jump it was one of those protable battery powered starting units to get it started when ever needed to start it. Then it quit cranking all together. Used Equus Innova 3140 code scanner & found no DTC codes stored. So I reset the ECM with the scanner, there was a clck form the CEM module. I tried the start push button & the auto started!
Hopes this helps someone else with a similar problem.
