My toyota hiace 2007 model, automatic and full time 4wd has a gear box problem. This has prompted me to change the gear box on three different occasions but still, even the latest gear box has already been damaged. It cannot engage forward gears and now its only the reverse gear that engages.
The original gearbox was replaced because it could not shift from the first gear to higher gears ratios no matter how high the engine rpm was. what could be the problem? Regards.

How long did the last transmission last?
How often do you replace the transmission fluids?
How was the condition of the transmission when they were installed?

Seems like you have an affinity for faulty transmissions. From what you described, the transmission seems to be faulty again.

Both transmissions have lasted roughly a mileage of 15,000 km or about 3 months. The fluids are manufacturer recommended and are checked almost on a daily basis before vehicle use. The gearboxes were brand new on both occasions when replaced. Could there be something damaging the gearboxes?

Actually transmission do not fail that fast nor that often.

Usually the control or electrical part of the system are the starting cause.
Did you check for trouble codes?
A faulty control unit or loose/contaminated wire connectors etc can cause such faults. Wrongly installed sensors can cause such problems as well
Usually there are symptoms such as harsh shifting etc prior to the transmission failing.

some mechanic may have erased the trouble codes without my knowledge during the diagnosis scan. The problem could be with the sensors or loose electrical connections as you've pointed out. I will have a thorough check through all the sensors and electrical connections. Let me say a big thank you for your help, time and response.

You're welcome. You should check for trouble codes if you feel any abnormalities in up or down shifting.
