9mos ago brakes went out and I "coasted" through apartment security gate. Brakes were fixed but it hasn't seemed completely "right" since then.

For a while now I've thought that was hearing a 'clunk' when I turn and go over uneven road but the guy giving car inspection said he didn't hear it. I just thought I was paranoid.

3 days ago (Friday) we had our first icy day & lots of lights turned on on dash & wouldn't go off. (Check engine, trac off, vsc trac?, and "!"). The "!" was typical because last winter it would come on (low tire pressure) on cold mornings. Roads were icy so I thought I'd wait & take it in after the weekend. Well.. over the weekend I noticed heater wasn't working & a rattling noise was getting more and more obnoxious. So today after work, I was driving it into town to an auto shop, but never made it. After 25 mins on road, the hood started smoking. I pulled over and the guy behind me did also. He looked and said that it was the radiator but that I would need to tow it in to see if there was other damage beyond that.

Help. Of course at Christmas time and with a teacher's budget, I'm hoping that it's not too expensive.

I'll be talking to auto shop tomorrow after they take a look. Any help as to what the damage & cost may be?

If you already have it scheduled for the shop, see what they say and let me know. I will help guide you through this. Keep in mind, just because there was steam from under the hood doesn't mean the radiator is bad. It could be a hose, water pump...
