the oil pressure light flickers intermittently ,

could be sensor out of range or engine rpm to low or momentary oil slosh. what weight oil do you use?

ok thats a problem. I know very little about cars. this is my first car as it is. i would appreciate you telling me how the weight of the oil would cause this, meanwhile i will get that the info on the weight of the oil from the mech tomorow morning..

weight of oil and type of oil determines viscosity.for example, gasoline has very low viscosity. it is viscosity that determines the ability to hold pressure in relationship to leakage or escape from confinement.engine oil passage thru engine has a certain pressure based on these factors. oil changes viscosity with heating.it is lowered.the ability of preventing metal to metal lubricated surfaces in the engine is a combination of viscosity and proper maintained clearances.take cold oil on your dipstick and rub between your fingers. then run motor till warm and do it again. notice the difference in feel, the ability of the oil to prevent skin to skin contact under pressure.

so, have u dealt with similar complains in the past?is this a common issue with the 1.8L vvt-i engines? and is there a particular oil weight u would recommend?

also there is a diff between flickering and blinking. flickering is erratic while blinking is synchronous. blink rate does not change.
