u0111The first one deals with a lost communuication with the control module. These are new ones for me too. They all seem to be related to the data link communication to the ECM. Nothing specific.

so should i go over every connection with a fine tooth comb and see if there are any problems? or would i be wasting my time?

Before you do that, I would like to ask a counterpart of mine here for his suggestions. He is an expert with Saturns.

Just to add to this one code dtc p1a7b is starter/generator control module temperture sensor performance. Its a hybrid code your best bet is to take it to the dealer really hard to talk you thru the repair. You need special tools and hybrid repair knowledge.

battery engine control module lost communication with bcm and pcm.

you have an 8 yr 80k warranty on the hybrid system. I, at least have seen these codes but never got a chance to track them down due to warranty.

i think you need to call the dealer and run your vin to confirm.

as far as your trip, get a rental from the dealer or a rental agency. you dont want to break down on your trip or rush a repair for your car.

Roy

We have a saturn guy on board here but have not seen him on yey. maybe he can help more.

good luck

so get this, last night i took off the "hybrid" cover that covers the 12V battery and the electrical components for the hybrid, and pretty much just with out taking anything off, wiggled all 3 connection on the ECU, i just got in the car and everything works perfect, the hybrid system is charging and assisting, the only thing that still bothers me is that for the last 2 years it keeps throwing a P-0449 witch is a E-VAP code and its been to the dealer like 20 times because of it and no
one can figure it out, but other then that, i have to thank you guy's, you were a big help :)

So did you take the cover off the hybrid battery in the back of the hatch area?Or the regular battery under the hood?

The battery under the hood isnt for the hybrid system. As far your code p0449 does the code reset quickly? There really isnt a bulletin i can think of or find for the vue.I can tell you how to test for power to the vent solenoid and also jump the vent solenoid to see if its opening and closing. But to see if the computer was commanding it on and off you would need a tech2 scan tool the one gm uses at the gm dealers. But from the code its going to be the vent solenoid itself the wiring terminal tightness or the computer itself.

i know, i never touched the battery, the ECU is right under the hybrid cover, and just pretty much i wiggled the 3 connectors on the ECU and it just all started working again, for the EVAP code, if you clear the light it can come on with in a day, and some times when i clear it it wont come on for a week, or in till i put gas in the tank, and i have already replaced the gas cap 4 times.

There was a campaign where saturn modified that harness that maybe where your problem came in.As far as the code p0449 it has nothing to do with the gas cap or evap leaks its all about the evap vent solenoid and its circuit.

i checked the vent solenoidal, and it works good, so i suppose that explains why i have a random harness with like 8 wires cut by the alternator.. the car also has a leak code for the longest time, but i just remembered there was a recall or a TSB on a EVAP hose that it went in for in the spring, now do i have any argument with GM that this is potentially a recall/ TSB???

Those cut wires is probably just when they did that campaign i mentioned in a earlier post. Can you post a pic of the cut wires? Also no you dont have a claim for a recal or tsb there has to be a lot of the samething happening on a lot of the vues for that.So how did you you test the vent solenoid on the fuel filler neck?

i took a 1amp 12 vold sourse and contacted the terminals on the solenoid and it clicked open and closed.. and i checked the selenoid by the valve cover, and yea here is a pict of the wires

That looks like the campaign the wires as far as the vent solenoid by the filler neck all you had to do is turn the key to the run position and one wire should have power and you would ground the other wire to open and close it.There would be no reason to run power to it unless you had a issue with the wiring. So did one wire have power with the key in the run position?

There shouldnt be a ground untill the computer grounds the wire to command the vent solenoid.

hummm... i drove the car Thursday everything was good, got in the car friday morning, the check engine light was on, with the P-0449, i cleared the light and drive 550 miles over 12 hrs, and the check engine light never came back on... so pretty much my Vue is just electronically challenged? lol

So like a very intermintant problem without a tech2 to command the vent valve open and closed and a little luck its not going to be easy to find.Have you made sure the terminals to the vent valve arent open?Instead of being closed.

there is no ground, and i have noticed over the last 4 days or so, i did the 1200 trip and the hybrid did great, i avraged 33 MPG, the check engine light would only come on if i were to let the enging cool down.. like when i drove 9 hours stright the light never came on once.. but when i pulled in to my friends dorm parking lot and let it sit over night, when i got back in the car the next morning, the light would come on for the valve. and then i would clear it and never see it till the next morning...

Thats because the evap test is only ran when the engine is cold and the evap vent valve is then closed to do the test. You have a power at the valve all the time the computer closes the valve by supplying a ground to the vent valve to close the evap system. Then the computer pulses the canister purge solenoid open to supply vacuum to the gas tank to check for leaks. Then there is a fuel tank.pressure sensor to measure vacuumin the tank. That reads a voltage value back to the computer and the computer can tellby the voltage value if there is a leak in the evap system.Your code deals with the vent valve itself i can guide you thru the trouble tree but requires a tech2 scan tool to open and close the vent valve and show its commanded state. Its a very basic trouble tree.

well funny enough, i just got a job with a auto dealership that used to be a saturn befor it shutdown.. so i have a tech2 scaner on my tool box at work... so i do plan to bring the car to work at some point this week.. so if it the computer fault, is that just a flash? or a new ecu?

If it doesnt command on and off see if there is a ground to the none power wire.If not it could be the wire terminal tightness or ecm if its the ecm its not a flash calibration its a bad ecm.Let me know if you can command the vent valve open and closed by using the special test on the tech 2.

ok, me and my co-worker just possibly fix the problem.. we took down the evap canister took out the valve, bench tested the valve, and it works perfectly.. so we put it all back together, scanned the computer, waited for vacuum to build up in the tank/ canister, and then commanded the valve open.. and the vacuum dropped to 0% so.. we are thinking that the valve was possably stuck open due to sand or dirt.
